What's your favorite sweet??

Have you checked Kansai Gaidai's Global Cast?  I was asked to write something about the international experience at Kansai Gaidai for my Global Cast message.  Please visit my entry, "My Sweet Life: An Intercultural Experience through Chocolate"  If it doesn't appear right away, you can also locate it by following this procedure: "By Date"; "06.2007"; "IES".

Once you have located my entry, you'll see a picture of my daughter and me; also, you can read about one of my favorite chocolates and how this confection represents my childhood and my home state, Ohio!

I hope that you'll leave a comment and tell about your favorite sweet and how it reflects something about you and/or your culture!

Hi, Mary!
How sweet your story is!!!
Your picture is also sweet!

I often ate kit-kat when I was high school student; especially 3rd grade. Many students who take an enterance examination of an university, eat kit-kat. The students want to pass the entrance exam, so they eat it.We eat it as a lucky charm. The sound of Kit-kat is so lucky word!!! Kit(kitto) is surely and Kat(katsu) is win in Japanese ! Sounds good, doesn't it ? The company of Kit-Kat must earn the most from November to March which are the season of the entrance examinations.

Hi Mary
I liked learning more about the Japanese sweets like kit kat. By the way, can you read Japanese?
Well, I really love sweets, but my favorite is brigadeiro, the little balls made of condensed milk and chocolate that are served in children parties in Brazil.
About Brigadeiro
Camila recorded a message in chimswing about "olho de sogra" (mother-in-law's eyes) which is also a popular brazilian sweet
About olho de sogra

Hope you can try them one day!
They are both delicious!

Hi, Mary:)
Your story and picture is very nice.

My favorite sweet is chocolate.
Chocolates mean a lot for me. When I was a high school student,
I went to Australia. I studied with Australian students and made many friends. When the day I have to leave the school, they gave me letters and full of chocolates. I felt they were the most sweetiest chocolate I had ever tried.
I like chocolates because they remind me of my good memories and sweet friends.

Russians are extremely fond of sweets!
When a kid I remember we all were crazy about candies and toffees (there were even special names we liked more).

Now my preference lies with chocolate and Rafaello. The first is a good nurishments for the brains - for students and teachers! And it is very tasty here in Russia.

Hi,Mary.
Your story is interesting and your daughter is really cute! I sometimes see that your husband walks with her on his shoulders.

I don't like sweets so much, but I like a crape. Then, there are many festivals in Japan. For example, Gion festival in Kyoto and Tenjin festival in Osaka. If you went to such festivals, you could find a lot of stalls which sell crapes. When I go there, I always eat a crape. It's common for us to eat a crape there. If you have never eaten a crape which is sold in stalls, please try it! It's surely very delicious.

This is really turning into an interesting discussion! It seems that sweets are related to many events in our lives, like entrance examinations, gift-giving occasions, and festivals!

My husband, Jason, and daughter, Leda, are often playing outside or going somewhere together. Sometimes for a special treat, they go to Baskin Robbins for ice cream. Recently, Leda's favorite flavors are strawberry and green tea.

Looking forward to more of your stories!!

Cutenekko from Canada says:
"I used to eat a lot of chocolate bars as a kid. In Canada, they all had funny names like Mars, and Snickers. Regarding culture, my brother and I would eagerly await the arrival of March 17th (St.Patrick's Day). This Irish holiday is celebrated by wearing green..and McDonald's had a special "Shamrock Shake"--a green milkshake! The taste was actually mint, but only on this holiday could you enjoy this sweet."
